Ideally the hydraulic hose will be disconnected from the hydraulic pump and hydraulic cylinder prior to inspection. You can then run your hand up and down the hydraulic hose feeling and visually checking for kinks, splits, sharp bends and exposed braiding. If, upon inspection, you find any issue with the hydraulic hose, you should refrain from using it and replace immediately.
